WHAT
IS THE NEXT STEP?
You
have already taken the first step by visiting this website. You are now
poised, like so many others before you, to make a decision which could
change your driving for ever.
This
is where the Cornwall Group will help you.
The
Group can offer you a free assessment drive. This takes place in your
own vehicle at a time convenient to you and will be overseen by an "Observer"
member of the Group. You will be asked to undertake a short drive and,
afterwards, will receive a full de-briefing and be given the opportunity
to ask about the Institute, its Advanced Test and the Cornwall Group.
Alternatively, you could decide to register with the Group for a DriveCheck, cost £25, refundable if you sign on for the “Skill for Life” scheme within 30 days.
If
you decide to proceed, you may become an "Associate" member
of the Group through the "Skill for Life" scheme. The £139
fee includes membership, a copy of " Pass Your Advanced Driving Test",
your test fee and the help and guidance of an observer (perhaps the one
who oversaw your assessment drive). What extras are there? Well you will
need your car and the cost of the fuel, (and possibly a cup of coffee
for your Observer), that's all.
The
observer will accompany you on a series of observed drives in your own
vehicle at mutually convenient times with the aim of bringing you up to
test standard. Each of the observers is a volunteer and all will at one
stage have been at the stage you are now so will be very sensitive to
your needs.
As volunteers, all the observers ask is that you would kindly consider
assisting our publicity by attending our annual awards ceremony. Many
good friendships have been formed as a result of the observer/associate
arrangements.
Your
associate membership also entitles you to attend group meetings the details
of which are listed elsewhere on this website.
The
next step is simply to contact our secretary Diana Smeath on 01872 242352
or e-mail: diana.smeath@cornwalladvanced.co.uk
. You are assured a friendly and helpful response. Our members come from
all walks of life but have the common aim of safer driving. We look forward
to hearing from you.
