Social & Events Committee

We are a small team of volunteers that are busy organising and supporting members to organise new events, activities and regular rides with the aim of adding fun and promoting road safety with whatever we do and wherever we go.

If you have an event or an idea that you would like the club to be involved with or need any help organising or promoting such an event, then contact any member of the team who will be happy to help.

We meet on a regular basis (usually every 6 weeks) in order to plan and organise forthcoming events, so please feel free to join us. Details are available on the Events calendar.

I'm a late in life biker having never been allowed to have one by my parents but have had biker friends all my life. Love the outdoors and fresh air and needed a change from sailing. Always admired those smooth effortless riders and wanted to be one so joined CAM and never looked back. Great fun and makes for safer riding: great gang of people and have discovered so many more roads to ride in Cornwall. Gets you out on the bike more; my partner rides too and we love touring France (trips to Captain Jasper’s in Plymouth are good too).

I love my Kawasaki ER6F and thoroughly enjoy riding it every time I go out with my fellow CAM colleagues on bike rides and marshalling events throughout the year, its such good fun and very social. I have been riding for 3 years now, and having been 'Rodney'ed' and passing my Advanced Test on Sept 1 last year, I haven't looked back and continue to progress with an awareness and safety that only comes with this kind of observation and training. I love touring Brittany with my partner David who also passed his advanced test last year and we enjoy the fantastic scenery, roads and food and basically everything Breton! It's a wonderful club and all my fellow CAMers are fabulous fun to be with and to go out riding the Cornish (and Devon) roads with!

I started biking at the age of 16, only taking a break when my daughters were young, then starting up again in the late 1990s. Having mainly ridden Japanese bikes - all makes and models, I am now converted to BMW. I re-commenced formal training around 2004 through Bike Safe and other various one day sessions, eventually joining IAM in 2015. I am passionate about improving safety through continued rider training and my strong desire to constantly develop my own skills and experience, which I can then pass on to others, something the IAM Observers process does very well.

I passed my DSA motorcycle test at the age of 18 and signed up for the IAM Skill for Life course in 2008 to improve my skills subsequently passed my IAM advanced test with the help of my observer Mark Tucker.
The following year I became a Group Observer for CAM and in July 2014 I have qualified as an IMI National Observer. As an observer for CAM I enjoy taking out other riders where I am able to pass on my learning and I am pleased that I have been able to help my associates to pass their advanced test.
I also enjoy taking part in the club’s group rides and riding with other like minded advanced motorcyclists who put safety and fun at the forefront of their riding.
